Frequently Asked Questions
Can I make Valley Functional Wellness my primary care office? Please call the office to schedule a consultation and we can decide how our services can best fit your needs.
Should you have a primary care physician? Yes. Your PCP is important in addressing acute illness and managing serious chronic illness. They should be available to offer routine vaccinations and screenings in the office as well as evaluate acute illness, order STAT labs and imaging, and offer on-call services. Those are services, that at this time, this office cannot manage. Valley Functional Wellness does not provide on-call services, emergency care, provide in-office vaccinations, or manage serious chronic illnesses, such as chronic heart failure or kidney disease.
Can you prescribe medicines? Absolutely. However, if there are tools available that can bring you back into balance and correct dysfunction that doesn’t involve daily medication, we will explore those options as well. The supplement industry has minimal regulation in the United States. This office offers supplements from trusted sources that are tested and vetted to ensure quality and safety, and we are pleased to be able to offer them at a discounted price to established patients.
Does Valley Functional Wellness accept insurance? At this time, no. Insurance restricts the length of patient visits and does not reimburse for health counseling or preventative medicine. You can request a superbill to submit to your insurance for reimbursement directly to you. All payments are due at the time of service.
What about labs? This office has relationships with several free-standing labs in the area. If lab studies are suggested and ordered as part of your visit, results will populate in your secure patient portal, where you and the provider will be able to access them. Valley Functional wellness is also happy to collaborate with your PCP to order and review labs as well as, with your permission, share office notes, treatment plans, and suggestions with them. It is important that everyone participating in your care is on the same page.
Does Valley Functional Wellness treat chronic pain patients? Absolutely, but this office does not take on, manage or implement regular opioid prescriptions.
Does Valley Functional Wellness accept pediatric patients? This office is happy to see children, however, this office does not provide services for pediatric primary care. There is no pediatrician on staff, this office does not keep a vaccine refrigerator, and does not have on-call availability or services. These are vital components of pediatric primary care.
Are Valley Functional Wellness services an HSA-allowable expense? You will need to contact your benefits representative to find out if services such as massage, nutrition counseling, and functional medicine/alternative practitioners are covered.
Can I just come for a massage? Absolutely, you do not have to be an established patient in the office to utilize massage therapy services. Established patients do not have to utilize services in this office, we are happy to provide referrals and recommendations as needed.
